A century after the Great War began, and on the exact anniversary of the Allied Invasion of Occupied Europe, an event that led to the end of the Second World War, join Marco Polo on a very special cruise visiting the places associated with the two conflicts.

Days Two and Three
Today we'll arrive in the Belgian port of Zeebrugge. Shore excursions will include visits to the sites of WWI battles on the Somme and Ypres Salient. See Poperinge and Passchendaele, visit the informative In Flanders Fields and Historial de la Grande Guerre museums and Ypres' poignant Menin Gate. There will also be visits to the Dunkirk beaches and the rocket emplacements from which the terrifying 'doodle-bugs' were launched.
Day Four
This morning, you'll arrive in historic maritime Portsmouth, nerve centre of Operation Overlord and departure point for tens of thousands of Allied troops early in the morning of 6th June 1944. Visit the fascinating D-Day Museum, with its Operation Overlord Embroidery, and join other optional excursions that will bring this city and its wealth of maritime heritage to life.
Day Five
Today, Marco Polo joins the fleet of craft sailing off the coast of Normandy, commemorating the events of D-Day. Later, she will tie up in Honfleur, a short distance from where the invasion's first shots were fired at Pegasus Bridge. A ceremony in memory of those who lost their lives on D-Day and in its aftermath will be held on board.
Day Six
A final day of commemoration sees Marco Polo arrive in Cherbourg, at the head of the Cotentin peninsula and within reach of the invasion beaches themselves. There will be excursions to the Allied Landing areas and to the D-Day Museum at Arromanches, which overlooks the last remaining pieces of the famous 'Mulberry Harbour'. Enjoy a last evening on board as you return across the Channel once again.
Day Seven
Marco Polo returns to Tilbury, this morning, at the end of a fascinating few days.
