Day one

Embark Marco Polo for our afternoon sailing from Tilbury, and your first evening aboard.

Day two

Today is spent at sea, cruising north beneath the early summer sun.

Day three

Today Marco Polo docks in Copenhagen. Stroll the stylish streets, or enjoy an excursion taking in the sights including the famous bronze statuette of the 'Little Mermaid'. Watch the world go by from a harbour-side bar in Nyhavn, and don't miss the sculpted walkways of the world-famous Tivoli gardens.

Day four

This morning Marco Polo arrives in the Baltic port of Warnemunde, gateway to the city of Rostock. Seat of northern Europe's oldest university, Rostock retains much of its medieval charm in the gabled houses and preserved warehouses surrounding Neuer Markt, the city's main square. For many the main attraction of this stop will be our optional excursion to Berlin. Stroll from the arch of the Brandenburg Gate down Unter den Linden to explore the former East German sector, browse the shops on the 'Ku'damm' and take in the various remnants of 20th Century conflict - from Hitler's Bunker to Checkpoint Charlie.

Day five

Today is spent at sea.

Day six

The Estonian capital, Tallinn, with its virtually pristine Old Town, is one of Europe's most scenic cities. Discover the winding cobbled streets, storybook houses, steepled churches, ancient buildings and Toompea castle.

Days seven and eight

Perhaps the highlight of our cruise is our visit to St Petersburg. We'll spend two days in the city, giving you the chance to explore the world-famous Hermitage museum and stroll the wide canal-side boulevards. Don't miss the chance to explore the city's Haymarket, see the home to the world renowned Kirov Ballet and visit the fabled summer palace at Petrodvorets.

Day nine

This morning's destination is the port of Helsinki, where the City Hall overlooks the fresh fish stalls and historic, covered Market Hall in Market Square. Stroll through Esplanade park, and take in the panoramic views of the city and the sea beyond from the cathedral tower before we set sail once more in the afternoon.

Day 10

Be on deck early this morning for the stunning passage through the islands that surround the Swedish capital, Stockholm. Best explored on foot, the city spans 14 islets and boasts a mix of historic sights and fine city parks. Its ancient heart is Gamla Stan, a labyrinth of cobbled streets, shops, cafes and restaurants.

Day 11

Today is spent at sea, before Marco Polo arrives in Holtenau to begin her transit of the famous Kiel canal.

Day 12

It's worth rising early to catch the last stages of Marco Polo's passage back through the Kiel Canal to Brunsbuttel, today. The rest of the day is spent at sea.

Day 13

Marco Polo arrives back in Tilbury, and you disembark and make your way home.
