Day one

Welcome reception, and private dinner with wine followed by a talk by your host David W Lee.

Following a career with Rolls-Royce David joined the Imperial War Museum at Duxford and became the Deputy Director. During his tenure, there were many exciting developments on site including the impressive AirSpace. Acknowledged as an expert in his field, David is a Past Chairman of the Transport Trust and served on the National Executive of the British Aircraft Preservation Council. He continues to undertake work for IWM Duxford despite his formal retirement. His most recent published work is 'Action Stations Revisited: Airfields of the South East'.

Day two

Spend the day at the Imperial War Museum Duxford. Upon arrival you will have a private guided tour, lead by David Lee, of the exhibits including the conservation hanger and American Hanger which includes the B17 Flying Fortress. During the day you will be split into small groups for an exclusive flight in a De Havilland Dragon Rapide taking you over the aerodrome for approximately 20 minutes each flight. Those waiting their turn will be able to enjoy the museum which is home to an impressive collection of over two hundred aircraft as well as tanks, military vehicles and boats.

Day three

Today you will see famous historic aircraft of the Shuttleworth Collection (Old Warden) Aerodrome in a flying pageant show where there is an excellent opportunity to take some good photographs due to the show's small size and the aircraft flying close to the crowd line. The Shuttleworth Collection is designed to create the atmosphere of the 1920s aerodrome and spans from the early pioneering aircraft up to World War II aircraft. Highlights include the Bleriot type XI which is identical to the one which first crossed the English Channel in 1909, and the Bristol Boxkite which was built for the film "Those Magnificent Men in their Flying Machines". Return to the hotel for approximately 17.30.

NB: Exact order of itinerary may vary according to local conditions and tour manager's discretion.

Please note in order to gain access to the De Havilland Dragon Rapide aircraft you will need to climb up two steps.

Please note the maximum group size on this tour is 49 passengers.
