Day One
Fly to Frankfurt and board Olympia. After a first evening meal, head to the ship's bar, or retire to your cabin, as the ship sails out into the river to begin your cruise.
Day Two
Awake as Olympia cruises through the meandering Main, arriving this afternoon in Wertheim, overlooked by one of Germany's most impressive castles. Discover the medieval town - famed for its glassblowing - on this afternoon's included walking tour, which will include the opportunity to see the craftsmen at work. Olympia sails once again this evening, as you enjoy dinner and entertainment on board.
Day Three
This morning finds Olympia moored in glorious Wurzburg, nestled beneath steep, vine-covered slopes. Enjoy an optional guided tour of the ancient prince-bishopric's UNESCO-listed Residenz, a magnificent Baroque palace overlooking the city's Altstadt. Explore the interior and stunning gardens, and indulge in some wine tasting, before re-boarding Olympia for another afternoon's cruise.
Day Four
Following the Main's meandering course up-river, Olympia arrives by lunchtime in beautiful, UNESCO-listed Bamberg. Take the shuttle bus from the ship into the centre and discover the city's medieval splendour - including the exquisite Altes Rathaus - on an optional walking tour, accompanied by an expert local guide.This evening, begin the transit of the extraordinary Main-Danube Canal.
Day Five
Olympia arrives early this morning in Nuremberg, its rebuilt half-timbered houses and narrow lanes seemingly unchanged in centuries. Join our optional tour, which might include the ancient Rathaus or parliament building, the twin-spired Sebalduskirche and the imposing fortress of the Kaiserburg. This evening Olympia continues her transit of the canal.
Day Six
Olympia enters the Danube at Kelheim, where the river is overlooked by high cliffs. Disembark this morning to visit the Weltenburg monastery - site of a near-thousand-year-old brewery - perched between the river and cliff-top. Alternatively, remain board for the cruise to majestic Regensburg. Discover the wonderfully preserved medieval trading city - including its bustling Altstadt - on this afternoon's walking tour, before re-boarding Olympia for her last evening cruise.
Day Seven
This morning Olympia arrives in Passau, at the confluence of the Danube, Inn and Ilz rivers, and at the border between Bavaria and Austria. Join our optional tour of the Italianate city, and enjoy a recital in the ornate St Stephan's Cathedral, played on the 17,000-pipe church organ - Europe's largest. This afternoon, you're free to explore. Enjoy a last dinner on board as Olympia moors here overnight, and perhaps take in some of the atmosphere of the charming Altstadt.
Day Eight
Bid farewell to Olympia this morning and her crew this morning, and transfer to the airport to board your flight home.
Please note that for September 27th departures, the cruise operates a reverse itinerary from Passau to Frankfurt, and passengers will overnight in Frankfurt on the outbound journey. Air passengers will fly out on September 28th. All included calls and highlights remain the same.
