US arrivals process
Most British Citizens travelling to the USA do not need a visa but must register online with US Immigration at least 72 hours before departure. A charge of $14US applies. We will send you the details, along with your tickets, about two weeks prior to travel. Any persons who have a criminal record or have ever been arrested, even if not charged, cannot use this process and must apply for a visa.
Day one

Fly to Washington and transfer to Richmond, Virginia for a one night stay.

Day two

Begin the journey south this morning, travelling first through North, then South Carolina, to the city of Charleston for an overnight stay.

Day three

Head past beach towns and plantation houses, into Charleston - the epitome of southern elegance. Join the optional city tour and discover the waterfront park and the historic district, before we journey south to Savannah for a two night stay.

Day four

Explore Savannah, with its historic quarter of antebellum mansions, shaded squares and cotton warehouses, and its associations with the slave trade and the Civil War. The optional guided city tour will introduce you to the city's history, after which you can lose yourself amongst the dogwood and azalea-lined streets.

Day five

Travel north today, to the old town of Winston-Salem, for a one night stay.

Day six

Spend a day on our included tour into the Blue Ridge mountains. Catch your breath on the scenic Blue Ridge Parkway - a refuge for deer and other wildlife - and visit historic Charlottesville, one-time home of US Presidents Thomas Jefferson and James Monroe, with its magnolia-lined streets. Continue to Richmond for two nights.

Day seven

Step back in time on today's optional excursion to the living museum that is Colonial Williamsburg, northernmost point of Virginia's 'Historic Triangle'. Actors in period costume recreate the lives of the early settlers, giving an insight into what life was like in the pioneering days of the 18th Century.

Day eight

Today we cross the Potomac river to Washington DC where the White House, Lincoln Memorial, the Capitol and the government buildings on 'the Hill', are amongst the most memorable sights. The optional guided city tour is a great introduction to the US capital. In the afternoon, we continue north to New Jersey for a two-night stay, just across the Hudson river from New York's Manhattan.

Day nine

Enjoy a full day trip into Manhattan with its landmark skyscrapers, Central Park and Fifth Avenue shopping. While there, join our optional guided city tour which ends with a visit to the Top of the Rock, and marvel at the views from the gallery at the top of the Rockefeller Centre. There's also the chance to take an optional helicopter flight around the city.

Day 10

In the late morning we board Carnival Glory for our seven night cruise to see New England and Maritime Canada's glorious fall colours. Settle in, explore the ship's facilities, and perhaps take the opportunity to upgrade to an outside cabin for the best views.

Day 11

Enjoy the pool, spa or perhaps just a seat at the bar on your first day at sea. Your cruise will include full-board dining throughout.

Day 12

Discover Boston, gateway to New England, today. Explore the freedom trail, relax on the leafy Common, or wander the compact downtown core.

Day 13

Today is spent in Portland on Maine's Atlantic coast, famed for its waterfront and daily lobster catches.

Day 14

Arriving into Atlantic Canada this morning, we berth in St John, in the province of New Brunswick. Take one of the shipboard optional excursions, perhaps a coastal kayak or a lobster bake.

Day 15

Today we explore the seafaring city of Halifax in Nova Scotia. It's a small and easy walking city and optional excursions there include a trip along the coastline, dotted with lighthouses, to famous Peggy's Cove.

Day 16

Another day is spent cruising as Carnival Glory makes her way back towards New York.

Day 17

Berthing into New York this morning, spend some free time for last minute sightseeing and shopping before we return to the airport for the return flight home.

Day 18

Arrive back in the UK.
