Day One
Fly to Madrid and transfer to Toledo and your hotel (journey approximately 90 minutes). Depending on your time of arrival, you may have time to begin your exploration of the magnificent city of El Greco this evening.
Day Two
After breakfast, join our included walking city tour and discover the centuries' old Alcazar, the stupendous Cathedral with its stunning interior, the El Greco House and Museum and the fascinating Juderia, or Jewish Quarter. The rest of the day is free to explore at leisure, before returning to the hotel.Some entrances are payable locally.
Day Three
Today's visit is to Madrid. Join the optional guided panoramic tour, and in the company of a local guide, discover one of Europe's greatest cities. This afternoon, explore Madrid's districts, or barrios, each with its own distinct attractions - from magnificent architecture and world-famous museums, to traditional tapas bars and designer shops - before returning to the hotel this evening.
Day Four
Explore Toledo today, or join our optional half-day excursion to beautiful Aranjuez. Explore the wonderful Royal Palace and its extensive, ornamental gardens - a welcome escape from the region's arid heat - as well as its historic bullring and a nautical museum housing some sumptuous royal river craft, before spending the rest of the day at leisure.
Day Five
Our final optional excursion takes us to the UNESCO World Heritage city of Segovia, home to a wonderful collection of Romanesque churches and the fairy-tale Alcazar Castle. We'll also visit the 16th-century El Escorial Palace, commissioned by King Felipe II of Spain, and El Valle de los Caidos, or the Valley of the Fallen - General Franco's controversial memorial to the victory of the Civil War - before returning to Toledo this evening.
Day Six
Transfer back to the airport for check-in and your flight home.
