Day Two
Today is spent at sea, enjoying the atmosphere on board and getting to know Marco Polo's wonderful on-board amenities.
Day Three
Marco Polo arrives in Cork's long, narrow Cobh harbour this morning. Shore excursions here offer you the chance to discover this historic capital of southwest Ireland, to head into the beautiful rolling countryside to fashionable Kinsale, famed for its fine food and sea-fishing, or to visit famous Blarney Castle, just north of the city, for a chance to kiss the Blarney Stone.
Day Four
Skirting the West Cork coast, Marco Polo heads to exquisite Bantry Bay. Go ashore at Glengariff, a green oasis where sub-tropical plants flourish set against the backdrop of the rugged Caha Mountains. Take an excursion into County Kerry and Killarney National Park, which sits beneath the wonderfully named Macgillycuddy's Reeks, Ireland's highest mountain range.
Day Five
Today sees Marco Polo anchor in fabled Galway Bay for a visit to vibrantGalway City, guardian of the Gaelic culture reflected in the city's many festivals.Straddling the River Corrib, Galway has a fascinating old centre surroundingancient Lynch's Castle. Explore, and perhaps enjoy lunch in one of Galway's countless restaurants, bars or cafes.
Day Six
Today we arrive in magnificent Donegal Bay, gateway to perhaps Ireland's finest scenery. In this land of rivers and loughs, of towering mountains and sheltered glens, the Irish language is still spoken and traditional music rings out from the pubs and bars. Discover the fascinating town of Donegal or the beautiful surrounds of this still relatively undiscovered part of the world.
Day Seven
The fishing port of Greencastle, on Ireland's north coast and at the entrance to Lough Foyle, welcomes Marco Polo today. Discover 'Derry', Ireland's only completely walled city, or perhaps head out into the wilds of the remote Inishowen Peninsula to explore the stunning scenery that includes Ireland's most northerly point, Malin Head, familiar to Shipping Forecast listeners everywhere.
Day Eight
Marco Polo lies at anchor off the great city of Belfast today. Step ashore to explore the historic city centre, see the sensational new Titanic Quarter, or join an excursion to the wild Antrim coast, and discover the wonder of nature known as the Giant's Causeway, with its thirty-seven thousand basalt columns..
Day Nine
The delightful Isle of Man - where visitors are transported back to a gentler-paced era (unless of course the famous TT racers are roaring their white-knuckle way around the countryside!) welcomes Marco Polo today. As well as the chance to explore the island capital, Douglas, there will be optional shore excursions to discover the beauty of this 'Jewel of the Irish Sea'.
Day 10
Today is spent at sea, as Marco Polo threads her scenic way through some of Britain's most beautiful coastal waters, off the coast of northern Scotland.
Day 11
This morning Marco Polo cruises into the historic port of Leith. Head to Edinburgh and explore Princes Street and the fascinating lanes and wynds of the famous Royal Mile, and visit Holyroodhouse, famous St Giles Cathedral, and - of course - the magnificent fortress that is impregnable Edinburgh Castle. At this time of year, the Scottish capital buzzes with the excitement of its famous Festival.
Day 12
A final day is spent enjoying all the many amenities of Marco Polo, and swapping memories of a wonderful cruise with fellow passengers.
Day 13
Marco Polo arrives back in Tilbury at the end of her voyage.
