Day One
Make your way to Newcastle for embarkation and this evening's sailing.
Day Two
Marco Polo arrives in Kirkwall, the historic capital of Orkney. Wander the meandering streets and marvel at the magnificent St Magnus Cathedral. Alternatively, join an excursion to fabled Scapa Flow, Churchill's famous Barriers, or the Italian Chapel. Other excursions include highlights of the island's unique mix of history, archaeology, crafts and wildlife.
Day Three
After cruising the scenic waters of Scotland's Western Isles, we'll arrive in Stornoway, capital of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides. These beautiful, unspoilt islands, inhabited continuously for over 6,000 years, retain a rich, timeless culture. Explore, or join the excursion to the mysterious and ancient standing stones at Callanish, thought to be nearly 4,000 years old.
Day Four
The climbing outpost of Fort William, at the foot of Ben Nevis, is gateway to the stunning scenery of the Highlands and the Great Glen. Don't miss the opportunity to discover the perfect Highland valley of Glen Nevis - backdrop for movies like Rob Roy and Braveheart - and perhaps take in Fort William's fascinating West Highland Museum.
Day Five
Today is spent at sea, cruisng back around the 'crest' of Scotland, past John O'Groats, towards Leith.
Day Six
Marco Polo arrives in Leith, at the end of a wonderfully varied, fascinating short cruise.
