Day Two
Today is spent at sea.
Day Three
Today we will anchor off the 'stretched' village of Kollafjordur, in the Danish outpost of the Faroes. Step ashore to explore this remote settlement, with its ancient, turf-roofed church, and don't miss the opportunity to visit the tiny island capital, Torshavn. The islands' inhabitants are guardians of a deep-rooted Norse tradition and live surrounded by natural beauty. A birdwatcher's Paradise, the Faroes are home to countless species.
Day Four
Marco Polo arrives in the delightful Wester Ross port of Ullapool, a historic fishing centre. This is a stepping stone to the Western Isles and the breathtaking North West Highlands' sites, which include Torridon's granite massifs and dramatic, remote Ben Assynt. Step ashore to explore, or take an excursion to discover some of Britain's most awe-inspiring scenery.
Day Five
Lerwick is the Shetland Islands' capital. This rugged, enchanting, old town is gateway to a land of ancient legend, traditional crafts and an incredible abundance of bird-life. Spend time in the town, or join the excursion to the 3,000 year-old archaeological site at Jarlshof, with its Bronze and Iron Age remains.
Day Six
Today Marco Polo docks in Kirkwall. Explore the historic capital of Orkney, and visit its magnificent centrepiece, St Magnus Cathedral. A mile away are the waters of Scapa Flow, where HMS Royal Oak sunk in WW2. Shore excursions will include highlights of the island's unique mix of history, archaeology, crafts and wildlife.
Day Seven
Marco Polo arrives back in Newcastle, at the end of a wonderful cruise holiday.
