Day One
Fly west, across the North Atlantic and to Las Vegas. Coach transfer to your hotel and a three-night stay.
Day Two
Discover the desert playground that is Las Vegas, one of the most spectacular cities on earth. You'll have the opportunity to join an optional tour to the fantastic West Rim of the Grand Canyon by helicopter and visit to a cowboy ranch to see an authentic slice of the American south-west.
Day Three
Spend today exploring 'Vegas, or perhaps visit the Hoover Dam on our optional excursion. One of the most remarkable engineering feats of the 20th Century, the dam contains Lake Mead, and is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the US. This evening's excursion introduces you to Vegas by night, the highlight of which is the wonderful 'dancing' fountains at the Bellagio Hotel. Afterwards, you're free to try your hand at one of the casinos for the ultimate Vegas experience.
Day Four
Today you'll journey to Laughlin, an oasis bordered by rugged desert and the Colorado River, and your base for the next two nights.
Day Five
Our included visit to the Grand Canyon introduces you to one of the world's greatest natural wonders and to nearly two billion years of the Earth's geological history. Experience the canyon's awe-inspiring beauty from above on our optional flight by helicopter - truly an unforgettable experience.
Day Six
Today we head towards the coast and a three-night stay in Anaheim, home to many of California's fun-filled attractions.
Day Seven
Spend the day exploring or discover Temecula Valley and the seductive coastal city of San Diego, on our optional excursion to two of California's most fascinating destinations.
Day Eight
Explore at leisure today and experience all that Anaheim has to offer. Head to the beach, hit the excellent shops or perhaps visit one of the action-packed theme parks if you're feeling adventurous!
Day Nine
Today we cross sunny Los Angeles, the iconic city of reinvention, and stop at Hollywood for a glimpse of the movie-making capital of the world. We'll then continue north to the classic Californian coastal town of Pismo Beach for an overnight stay.
Day 10
Board the coach and head north on the Pacific Coast Highway, calling at two towns linked by the scenic 17-Mile Drive - Carmel-by-the-Sea, renowned for its natural beauty and rich artistic history, and Monterey, immortalized by one-time resident John Steinbeck. We'll continue to eclectic San Francisco, the fabled 'City by the Bay', for a three-night stay.
Day 11
Our optional guided tour provides an excellent way to get to know this diverse city. After a short introduction, we'll cross the breathtaking Golden Gate Bridge to the delightful waterfront community of Sausalito. You'll have time to explore this lively town, where the Beat poets and artists once thrived, before returning to the city by ferry, passing forbidding Alcatraz Island. Then perhaps explore the bustling Fisherman's Wharf and its many shops.
Day 12
Spend the day at leisure. Perhaps take a walk along the Bay to Pier 39 for a glimpse of the sea lions, stroll through the beautiful Japanese Tea Garden in the Golden Gate park, or visit the shops for a souvenir of your trip. This evening, perhaps head to colourful Chinatown or choose from one of the excellent eateries on Nob Hill.
Day 13
This morning you'll return to the airport and check in for your flight home.
Day 14
Arrive back home, after an overnight flight.
