We enjoyed the holiday very much and are glad we stayed at Amersfoort rather than Utrecht. Hotel was in a good position, less than 10 mins from shops and restaurants and the old part of town was very pleasant to stroll in after dinner. The hotel breakfast service was excellent - super selection of food and brilliant coffee. I would not recomment the dinner however, as the service, although pleasant, was very slow indeed and the food mediocre. The only major criticism we can make is about something beyond your control, and that is the train service between Dordrecht and Brussels. This was poor for several reasons in both directions, but the return was so late we almost missed our Eurostar and we had to stand until Antwerp. No criticism of Eurostar - on time and comfortable.
Had a fabulous time. The balance of group visits and time to do one's own thing was perfect. The hotel was comfortable and not too great a distance from the centre (there was a bus option too if required, which the tour manager helpfully pointed out on our first evening). The Kroller-Muller museum is a must-see, as are Het Loo and the open-air museum, but all the trips were interesting and worthwhile. Love the Eurostar option - so much easier than flying. I did the Dutch Masters holiday last year (highly recommended) - thanks for another great trip!
