Cuba

Locked in a time warp since the 1950s, Cuba is on the verge of change making now the perfect time to visit before its distinctive character is eroded. Our tour, designed to offer a flavour of the authentic Cuba, takes in some of the main architectural and scenic highlights including the faded colonial grandeur of Havana, Cienfuegos and Trinidad, Las Terrazas Eco Reserve, and the Vinales Valley tobacco-growing region.

Accommodation is in typical Cuban hotels throughout, offering decent and authentic accommodation far from the "all inclusive" package hotels that proliferate here. Flights are with Virgin's excellent service direct from Gatwick to Havana. No tour to Cuba is complete without music, which is heard everywhere, and our final night is a dinner at the renowned Cafe Oriente with live musical accompaniment.

A great holiday and a lovely group of people. We all found a common curiosity about Cuba and how it ticks. There was a lot of long trips in the coach but I guess thats unavoidable. The trip guide was excellent.

The trip far exceeded my expectations - the programme was well thought out and our guide very conscientious. Considering the standard of the hotels we stayed in, it seemed to me to be very good value for money.

The itinerary of the trip gave good insight into Cuban life and history. One of the most interesting side trips was the walking tour of the tobacco plantation in the Vinales Valley. We also enjoyed the walk around the garden in Vinales. More time could have been spent in Trinidad to allow us to explore and eat lunch. There was at least 2 occasions when lunch was very late or missed altogether. The rour guide was very friendly and informative and made every effor to see we had a most enjoyable trip.
