Arrive independently at the Hilton Croydon from 15.00. This evening there will be a welcome reception, dinner with wine and an introductory talk by Dr Anne Anderson – ‘William Morris at home’.
This morning we visit Red House at Bexleyheath, built for Morris and his bride Jane in 1860. Morris’ idyll was short-lived and the house was sold in 1865 but not before he gleaned inspiration for his early designs – bird and trellis, pomegranate and daisy for example. After lunch we will travel to Little Holland house in Carshalton. Home of artist, designer and craftsman Frank Dickinson (1874-1961), the interiors feature paintings, furniture and craftwork by Dickinson himself, who was much inspired by Morris and Ruskin. The house is a unique testament to the English Arts and Crafts movement, designed, built and furnished by one man.
Our first visit of the day is to Charleston farmhouse, the country house of the influential Bloomsbury group of English writers, intellectuals, philosophers and artists. A prime example of the domestic decorative style of Vanessa Bell and Duncan Grant the house is full of walls, doors and furniture decorated by the artists of the group, who were inspired by Italian frescoes and Post- Impressionism. Standen house, our final visit, is home to the Beale family. Built by Philip Webb, the house retains its original Morris and Co interiors. Return to the hotel for approximately 17.30.

The Tour Manager and Expert Leader and Lecturer were excellent, very knowledgeable and very audible in the large group situation. This was a most enjoyable and informative tour and I hope to go on a similar one in the future. Thank you very much.
The whole experience far exceeded my expectations. This was the first time I have been on an organised trip and also the first time I have been away on my own, having lost my husband recently. It was my first trip with your company but will not be my last. It was very professionally run by Anne and Scott and they are delightful people who make everyone feel very involved and welcome. Thank you.
