A day of Orcadian delights, as Discovery docks in Kirkwall. Explore the historic capital of Orkney and visit its magnificent centrepiece, St Magnus Cathedral. A mile away are the waters of fabled Scapa Flow, where HMS Royal Oak sunk in WW2. Shore excursions will include highlights of the island's unique mix of history, archaeology, crafts and wildlife.
Day Three
Tiny, Toytown-like Torshavn is the capital of the remote Faroe Islands. A birdwatcher's Paradise, the islands are home to countless species. Their inhabitants are guardians of a deep-rooted Norse tradition, living surrounded by natural beauty and drawing their income from the sea through fishing and oil exploration.Explore Torshavn's confusion of lanes and narrow passages, or join an excursion to other parts of the islands. Perhaps you'll cross the famous Atlantic bridge that connects the main island of Streymoy with smaller, scenic Eysturoy.
Day Four
The tiny harbour of Portree, on the sheltered eastern side of the Isle of Skye, is gateway to windswept moors, the great Cuillin 'Hills' and a coast teeming with bird- and aquatic-life. Historic Dunvegan Castle is the world's oldest continuously inhabited fortress, which can be explored on a shore excursion today, before Discovery makes her way south.
Day Five
Discovery arrives back in Greenock at the end of a simply wonderful cruise.

MV Discovery
In 2013, 20,000-tonne Discovery sets out on a series of exciting departures from ports around the UK, on her first season of cruises. With her classic profile, eight passenger decks, and accommodation for 700 passengers, Discovery is a smaller ship built in traditional style, and offers the perfect 'home from home' for a memorable holiday.
