Travel to Leith to board Discovery, as she prepares to sail early this evening.
Today is spent at sea.
Today, Discovery arrives in Romsdalfjord. Join our shore excursion at Andalsnes to see the scenery of the region, including the vertiginous Trollstigen (Troll's Ladder), a road at the head of the Valldal valley. From Andalsnes, there may be a chance to visit the wooden Rodven stave church in its setting beside the fjord.
Today's call is at Olden. This is the stopping-off point for a trip through the surrounding countryside to the famous Briksdal glacier, part of the vast Jostedalsbreen ice-pack, which broods over the eastern reaches of the fjord.
Discovery navigates through the narrow fingers of mighty Sognefjord, the world's largest and deepest, to Flam, set in one of the fjord's most remote corners. From here, you might board the world-famous Flamsbana mountain railway for the six-mile climb to Myrdal, before Discovery cruises through Naeroyfjord.
Discovery makes its way into Hardangerfjord. In this landscape, sheer mountainsides plunge into still waters. Discovery calls at Eidfjord, at the eastern end of the fjord. Here, you can go ashore for an overland excursion through the surrounding countryside to the Voringfossen waterfalls.
A final day is spent at sea, cruising home.
Discovery arrives back in Leith.
In 2013, 20,000-tonne Discovery sets out on a series of exciting departures from ports around the UK, on her first season of cruises. With her classic profile, eight passenger decks, and accommodation for 700 passengers, Discovery is a smaller ship built in traditional style, and offers the perfect 'home from home' for a memorable holiday.
