Day One

Travel to Tilbury to board Marco Polo as she prepares to sail this afternoon.

Day Two

Today is spent at sea, as Marco Polo cruises northwards along the beautiful Norwegian Coast.

Day Three

The prosperous former fishing capital of Stavanger is Marco Polo's first landfall. Step ashore to wander, taking in the fresh fish and flower market of the harbour-side square, Torget, or perhaps take an excursion to nearby Lysefjord to marvel at the towering Preikestolen rock formation.

Day Four

Today's call offers you the chance to join an unforgettable shore excursion to the famous Briksdal Glacier, part of the vast mass of the Jostedalsbreen ice-pack, which broods over the fjord.

Day Five

Today is spent at sea, as Marco Polo cruises northwards along the beautiful Norwegian Coast.

Day Six

Rising up out of the sea like miniature Alps, the wild and beautiful Lofoten Islands' tiny fishing villages (with even tinier names, such as "A") shelter beneath towering peaks, cliffs and rock formations. Marco Polo calls at Leknes, nestled at the foot of stunning, Alpine-like scenery, and there'll be an opportunity to explore this most beautiful corner of the world on an overland excursion. This evening, in the long-evening light, we'll cruise through the Inside Passage, passing the stunning scenery of Solbergfjord, Gisund and Grotsund.

Day Seven

Perhaps the highpoint of the cruise will come this evening, as Marco Polo docks in pretty Honningsvag, and you can make your way on an optional excursion to the famous visitor centre at Nordkapp, or North Cape to see the sun set then rise almost immediately in the midnight sky. You'll return to the ship, passing Knivskjellodden, Europe's true north tip, before Marco Polo turns south once more on her Norwegian coastal voyage.

Day Eight

The largest settlement beyond the Arctic Circle, Tromso, with its magnificent cathedral rising grandly from its bustling centre, is our port of call this afternoon. Step ashore to explore the market, held daily in the main square, and the 'Polarmuseum', which pays tribute to Arctic pioneers such as Amundsen and Nansen.East of the city centre is the stunning, strikingly modern Arctic Cathedral, or Ishavskatedralen, with its amazing stained glass window and organ built in the shape of a ship just two of its memorable features. Close by, a cable car climbs to the summit of Mount Storsteinen for unsurpassed views.

Day Nine

Today Marco Polo heads into magnificent Holandsfjord, just above the Arctic Circle, cruising gently across still waters to the mighty Svartisen Glacier, whose blue-white tentacles reach down to just 20 metres above sea level, one of the most arresting sights of the whole trip.

Day Ten

Marco Polo arrives this morning in Andalsnes. Enjoy an overland excursion through the vertiginous Trollstigen (Troll's Ladder), a breathtaking road at the head of the Valldal valley, and perhaps visit the famous wooden Rodven stave church in its dreamy setting beside the fjord before Marco Polo cruises on through Romsdalsfjord.

Day Eleven

Today Marco Polo docks in Bergen - an ancient Hanseatic city of cobbled streets and medieval houses, and birthplace of composer Edvard Grieg. Visit the vibrant harbour and fish market, stroll past the wooden warehouses of Bryggen and take the Floibanen funicular to the summit of 'Mount' Floyen.

Day Twelve

At sea, reliving the memories of a wonderful holiday.

Day Thirteen

Marco Polo arrives back in Tilbury at the end of the cruise.
