Relax and listen to the expert commentary as you float past the tranquil banks. Watch out for the kingfishers, which can often be seen diving for fish along the river.
Day Three
Choose this morning's half-day optional excursion and come with us to the celebrated Chateau de Monbazillac, a beautiful Renaissance mansion surrounded by vineyards famed for their sweet white wine. Enjoy a guided tour of the chateau, and visit the cave for the chance to taste and buy direct from the producer.
Day Four
On today's full-day tour you'll discover the delightful medieval town of Sarlat in the heart of the Perigord Noir. With its maze of narrow, cobbled streets and the warm golden sandstone of its beautiful, restored mansions, Sarlat is arguably one of the most attractive towns in all of France. After time to explore and have lunch (payable locally), we'll continue to the extraordinary cliff-side town and shrine of Rocamadour. This breathtakingly beautiful town has inspired awe in tourist and pilgrim alike for years, and is one of the most photographed locations in all France.
Day Five
Enjoy a day of gastronomic delights on our final optional excursion. Explore Perigueux's bustling market and speciality shops, and visit its domed cathedral and Roman remains, before continuing to pretty Brantome. Discover the village's many charms, including a beautiful Benedictine Abbey, dating back to the 8th Century, and a wonderful stone bridge across the river Dronne.
Day Six
Today we bid "au revoir" to the Dordogne region and return to the airport for check-in and your flight home.
Just a stone's throw from the heart of 'old' Bergerac, and yet just 20 minutes from Bergerac airport and less than two hours from Bordeaux airport, the friendly and welcoming Hotel de Bordeaux is well known for its attractive, understated decor and relaxed atmosphere.
The hotel was completely refurbished in 2006, and, unlike many town-centre hotels, boasts an attractive garden and a delightful swimming pool. Accommodation is reserved on a bed-and breakfast basis, giving you the chance to sample the celebrated local cuisine in Bergerac's many restaurants. The hotel also has a lift and its own bar with billiard table. Each of the 40 guest rooms is equipped with private facilities, a direct-dial telephone, satellite TV and a hairdryer.
