Today we follow the breathtaking run from the Kyle of Lochalsh to Inverness, as featured by Michael Palin in his series 'Great Railway Journeys of World', through the breathtaking scenery used in the filming of the BBC TV series 'Hamish Macbeth'.
Day Three
Our second excursion is a nostalgic trip on the Strathspey Steam Railway. The nine-and-a-half-mile journey through unspoilt Highland scenery ends in Aviemore, where you're free to explore. You may also like to join our optional excursion on the Cairngorm Mountain Railway, the UK's longest funicular, which is renowned for its magnificent views.
Day Four
Our final trip takes us 42 miles along the dramatic West Highland Line to Mallaig, overlooking the Isle of Skye. We'll cross the spectacular 21-arch Glenfinnan viaduct and rumble past the white sands of Morar. Once in Mallaig you can walk the hills, explore the Heritage Centre or visit the kipper smokery.
Day Five
Transfer back to Edinburgh for your return flight home. Depending on your departure time, there may be time to explore this beautiful city before you head to the airport.
Set on the banks of the River Dulnain with spectacular views of the Cairngorm Mountains, the Carrbridge Hotel was originally established in 1803 as an inn for weary travellers. It has been extended and refurbished over the years and now has 100 bedrooms.
We're sure that you will be delighted with the friendly service and warm hospitality that are the hallmarks of a stay at the Highlander, which is always popular with Newmarket guests.
The rooms in this comfortable, modern hotel are located in two blocks just a short walk from the main hotel reception, which also offers a restaurant and bar area. Each room has private facilities, colour TV, a hairdryer and tea- and coffee-making facilities."A warm Highland welcome for every guest."

I recently had the pleasure of participating in the Scottish Highland Rail trip. I would like you on my behalf to thanks your tour manager Robert and driver Mark for the excellent attention & knowledge imparted by both to make this a very enjoyable experience.
Mr Paterson
We would just like to say that we have just taken a 5 day highland tour with you and we had the best holiday we have ever had. Our tour guide Melanie was just fantastic, always keeping us informed, and full of such interesting facts, she is truly a credit to your company, and Alistair our driver was wonderful as well.
